Learn French Online With Rocket French

I enjoy working at my own pace. The flexibility of the program is very good. My favorite part is being able to listen and then repeat as many times as I want. The only thing I dislike is having to click accept to record each new phrase or word.

This is one of the tools that every French learner should have, it has kept me interested to learn it, and I have noticed how well I can keep a conversation and read articles in this language, thanks to that I have more friends who are French speakers. Thanks Rocket Languages and keep improving your tools, I love them!

I undertook to learn French on my own, beginning with the Pimsleur method. I found this to be of great help to me, having the type of ear that easily hears language and its nuances. However, the Pimsleur method is limited, both in its exposure to grammar and verb forms and in its exposure to vocabulary. In searching for another self-taught method to continue my learning of French, I found and purchased Rocket French.

Through listening to the Rocket French lessons, which I do from an MP3 player that broadcasts through my car radio on my way to and from work, I have found just what I needed. I am continuing to learn French on my own terms, and very effectively at that.

I love Rocket French from the first day! It is the only software available that has all the features I look for in a language learning software. It has MP3 files containing the audio sounds of many French words, phrases, and sentences. These are my favorite feature because these audio's pronounce first in English, then a pause, followed by the same phrase in French, then another pause, wrapping up with the same phrase repeated in French. The lovely voice is so pleasant to the ear that it is itself a splendid motivation for me to learn.

Other great features about the product are the comprehensive coverage of the language across all the chapters, cute pictures, and fun quizzes. Amazingly, I am learning French and loving every minute of it. My wish is that one day very soon I will be able to converse fluently with my neighbors and friends in Montreal. My husband and I bought a condominium there a couple of years ago and we love to visit every chance we get. I highly recommend this product without any reservation whatsoever! I fail to see any down side to it at all.

Excellent program that quickly sucks you into the activities of Paul and Claire in such a way that you begin to look forward to the evening session. Having last studied French when I was 15, I find the program digging words from deep in my memory and attaching them with sentences and verbs.

Hello, my name is Veronica James and this is my testimonial. I did purchase Rocket French last fall and it was something I did as I was recovering from an injury. I had broken my ankle and had surgery. I was house-bound for about five months, so I decided to bone up on my French.

My name is Susan Fittro. Where do I start? French lessons in Middle School were difficult. My R's are more Spanish than French. The criticism made me very self conscious, so I felt absolutely horrific whenever I tried to speak anything other than English, which I still struggle with and it's my native tongue. I had a native of France as a tutor for about 3 weeks and then I moved, and I do feel it is much better learning from a native speaker. The audio playback is brilliant, absolutely love it. It has helped so much in giving me confidence in my pronunciation. I enjoy the quizzes. I haven't started the games yet but I am looking forward to doing so soon. I am taking a trip to France in the Spring and I know without a doubt my friends will be amazed at my ability to speak French and actually have a conversation without mixing English and French, together with my pantomiming skills. I currently live in a small village and the opportunity to take classes and tutors, it's not available, there's no one here. I did some online research on language courses and had my husband check it out as well. He does speak some French but is not fluent. I also like the way the lessons are categorized and aren't so long that I get lost or bored. I really enjoy the short sessions and how I can learn what it is I'm wanting to learn. And this just seemed like the best course by far for what I found for the price, I am very pleased and I do highly recommend the program

My name is Brielle, I’m 23 and I kind of spontaneously decided to try to learn French about two months ago.

This summer I’ll be spending a month in France and even though I’m spending it with friends that do speak a lot of English, I thought it’d be nice to know some French. So when I first decided to learn I paid a few local French students for private lessons, but I kind of learned pretty quick that even if somebody knows their language pretty well it doesn’t mean they can transfer their knowledge to you that easily.

So after that, when I pretty much took the 6 free trial lessons on Rocket French, after my 6th trial I purchased the full downloadable version, and I’m pretty happy I did that.

The program is organized, its comprehensible, there is audio which I think is the most, you know, the biggest help, there is homework to test yourself, you can go at your own pace, and something about teaching yourself a language is pretty rewarding I think. At the rate I’m going with the lessons, I’m pretty excited about getting to France. I might not be quite fluent by then, but I will have all the confidence to get by I think.

Overall it’s a sweet program. I haven’t tried any other language programs to compare it to, but I guess that says a lot in itself.

This is a message from a (very!) satisfied Rocket French customer.

My dilemma revealed itself in early January, as the date was set for early that following July, when our campus would welcome 300 conventioneers, among whom would be about 20 from Quebec, Canada, alumni of our course work who speak primarily in French. Over a number of years, these Quebecois had taken their courses in French from our institute in satellite classes away from the main campus here in Texas.

But this year we were honoring the pioneers among them who had kept French-speaking student numbers strong and growing, over the years.

I had studied in a one-year course for foreign students years ago. With no previous studies in French, I went in 1959-60 as a free student, with no affiliations, to the University of Bordeaux, Faculty of Letters, and had success from this immersion style of learning French. But, my level of fluency had disappeared over the years. Knowing that I could revive some of my comfort in speaking French, I went online and subscribed to Rocket French that arrived faithfully each week from January 20th through June 2nd of this year and I had hopes that that would give me ample time to get comfortable with that beautiful language once again.

My initial plan was to awaken one-hour early each morning to study the given lessons; I started off strong, but found that I only worked with the lessons an average of two times a week. Yet, that proved to be enough to get my tongue back into the groove of speaking French. Surprisingly, the Rocket French lessons validated that I remembered most of the vocabulary. The biggest help to me was in listening and speaking, which became easier as my confidence returned with each passing week.

By the end of the lessons, I was ready for the convention! To my amazement, I worked overtime translating for our staff at the times they made various presentations to our very special French-Canadian guests; during informal times outside of structured hours when I could visit and chat with all of these delightful folks; and during social times when I found every excuse to be with them.

At the end of our six convention days together, three of the group stayed on for an intensive six health & wellness retreat, where three to four times each day I would join them for the table discussion segments built in to their learning time. I actually lost my voice due to speaking so much and so often, but the end result was that the total experience for the French-speakers and certainly for me, was enhanced by the language we shared.

I would not have had the success that I did were it not for having taken the course work offered by Rocket French! My writing and speaking skills were renewed and polished, and reading and writing now comes more easily to me, too.

It was a real advantage to me, now at the age of 67, to have had a previous foundation in the French language, but without the thorough review I experienced with the Rocket French lessons, I might never have let on that I knew French, at all.

I've archived all of the lessons to review at any time, certainly before heading to Quebec at the invitation of these enthusiastic students of all ages! And, if I plan things right, I may just take a return trip to France one day, with a special visit to relive my own early student days in Bordeaux. Thanks to Rocket French, I can do it all!

Hello, my name is Judy Beerbaum and I am a certified Retirement Coach. I am calling because I'm transitioning into full-time retirement myself, and over the years I've helped hundreds of other near-retirees set new goals and create satisfying retirements by replacing the structure that their work week provided with activities that are new and exciting. I began my own retirement, foreign travel and began living abroad and was interested in things to do myself. I especially wanted to return to France to visit my cousin and her husband who own an Olive Farm just outside Salon-de-Provence. But this time I wanted to participate in the family and neighbors conversations, in French. I also wanted to be able to rent a car, order from the menu and negotiate "gite" accommodations while touring the French countryside, and I wanted to be able to do all of this before this years harvest season. Originally I thought that since I already have German as my second language, all I had to do was get a French dictionary and some workbooks and I could learn on my own. Wrong! I found out very quickly that I did not have the discipline to teach myself and was not confident I was pronouncing the words correctly. Then I found Rocket French. What a difference, and it is so practical. I look forward to every session. The weekly lessons provide the structure I need but still allow me to learn at my own pace without leaving my mountain home to travel 25 miles to the nearest expensive Community College. There are other added pluses. My memory is getting sharper, and I'm starting to view the world from a broader perspective, as I see things according to the French way of doing things. As my confidence builds I just know I will be ready for my road trip this fall, even if that sometimes means knowing when to ask a kind French person for help. The program has great flexibility that I can listen at my computer and work through games or flashcards as well as download the lessons to take them on the go! The program is very motivational which keeps me wanting to come back and learn more.

Without Rocket French, I would not have been nearly as comfortable touring – and wine tasting - in France. As you can see from the picture, I had no trouble making myself understood! I was much more relaxed in my travels after spending a few weeks with the Rocket French course.

I tried a *Competitor* and, while it is admittedly well written, I found that the audio portion of Rocket French was absolutely essential to proper pronunciation of French words.

French is not a language that allows you to sound out the syllables. There seems to be many more letters on the page than actually reach the ears. It looks like they use a lot of unnecessary characters. The language does have rules, though, and those rules are well pointed out in this course. Learning the basic grammar early on aided in comprehension immensely. And repeatedly hearing the words, especially while reading them, helped gain an understanding of how they should sound.

The course is set up so that I could pick and choose whichever lessons most suited my needs. After the first few foundational lessons, I found that I could defer some of the topics that I would not need right away.

Learning French is fun this way!

I like the pacing of the lessons, and the sound of the Paul & Marie's voice. The forum's are a great resource for supplemental ideas to enhance learning the language. The iphone app is very helpful, as I can listen to a lesson on my morning commute.

Love the program. It is fun and easy to learn. I'm amazed at the upgrades and improvements that are frequently made to the program. I have hopes of learning French or Spanish after I have become fluent in German.

I enjoy the product, although I haven't been able to complete as many lessons as I would like. The fact that you can access it without an expiration date makes it much more valuable to me since I will be using it over the years and they do provide updates to the material from time to time so that you can come back to an improved product.

The great thing about this program is it gives you multiple ways to learn, and doesn't leave you abandoned out of your native language. Whether you learn through conversation, memorization, or association either auditory or visual, Rocket language has a way for you to excel.

I would recommend Rocket French to others. The reason I would is that it seems to be very easy for me to go through the courses and also the special email sections that I received for when you are traveling and what phrases to use.

The biggest benefit I gained from my Rocket French course was that I was planning a trip to France, which I did go on and just returned.

I've stop and started Rocket French several times but now since I've downloaded audio lessons to my MP3 it'll be easier to start over again and keep going since MP3 can go with me anywhere.

My wife is from Paris and my daughter is fluent in French at four years old. It was time for me to get busy with French, so I decided to take a beginning French class at a city college and get an online course as well. After four months I was listening better and had improved. I especially liked Rocket French as there is lots of spoken French by a native and you send regular emails with French lessons about everyday matters.

My wife thought the course was definitely challenging and useful as you must listen to French speakers if you want to do well in France. The course is very well laid out and is quite manageable for anyone with rudimentary computer skills.

This is one of the best French programs I have come across and it won't break your bank to buy. It is definitely geared towards adults who seriously want to learn and understand a new language, which is a refreshing change for me over the unstructured, cartoonish language programs that seem to be everywhere.

I wanted to say that I think Rocket French is a wonderful way to learn French. I have enjoyed listening to it in my car and at the gym. I've put it on my laptop and took it with me on vacation. I haven't gone to France yet, but I hope to soon or at some time in the near future.

The MP3s, the drawings and the lessons- they are all easy to understand, easy to follow, easy to listen to and emulate. It's an easy and effective way to learn French. I'm enjoying-as I said- the learning tools very much. Thank you very much!
