I like to learn Chinese online with Rocket Chinese. Because here are very interesting topics and lessons, has possibilities to see and to read the phrases that are frequently used in everyday life and can to hear very clear pronunciation of native speakers.
I tried a few chinese learning apps/softwares and finally took RocketLanguages as my primary. The 2017 Edition shows major improvements and is on the latest technological standard. So far I am very pleased with the course materials.
Rocket Languages definetly has all the tools you need to learn a language, however, you will definetly need to repeat each lesson multiple times and it's hard to use while exercising, cooking, etc. But if you commit to it and review each lesson several times you could definetly achiece fluency with Rocket Chinese. The conversational style and Rocket reviews really make Rocket Languages a great tool.
I'm very happy with what I have learned I get to learn new things and that is fun.
Just starting out but seems to have very good interaction and structure. Particularly like the voice recognition so you can have a, somewhat, proper conversation.
Rocket languages allows me to learn at a comfortable pace. It is challenging and informative. It is good because it allows me to replay phrases over and over separately so I can get the pronunciation right.
The more I go through the course, the more frustrating it gets. Instead of learning and practicing individual words, I'm supposed to memorize incredibly complex sentences without understanding the meaning of how all the words work together in the sentence. There is no logical progression from learning words to forming sentences. As a result, I forget everything immediately and feel demotivated. And I stumble over the pronunciation because I have to say ten new words at a time. There is no daily reinforcement of previous lessons, which makes the course meaningless over time.
Response from Rocket Languages
Thank you for your review, Daniel. If you are finding the Interactive Audio lessons quite challenging, then we would recommend going through the Language and Culture lessons first. Once you have a better understanding of how the language works, you may find that the sentences make more sense. If you continue to find yourself feeling demotivated, please don't hesitate to reach out to the customer support team on [email protected].
I've used Rosetta Stone for other languages including Arabic and nothing matches Rocket Arabic. Rosetta Stone was completely unusable. Rocket languages is the best method I've used to date for learning a language.
I am studying Spanish with Rocket Spanish, but Chinese seem more interesting.
Just getting started. Problems with motivation and memory are addressed well by this program. Still finding difficulty setting aside specific time(s) to practice. Appreciate weekly emails and short programs.
