I am only on day 9 of RF, but my experience thus far has been excellent. I have been trying to teach myself French with various books and programs over the past few years, and I haven't always been terribly disciplined up until about a year ago. Like many, speaking is my greatest hurdle. I am enjoying the record and playback features, and comparing my voice with the pre-recorded sentences until I get it right. Explanations are clear and helpful. Customer support is also excellent - questions are answered quickly. Thanks, Rocket French!
Rocket French is the best of the many French language teaching programs I have had experience with. I had a minimum amount of French training in high school and college just to meet the language requirement for my chosen field. Language learning at the time consisted of textbook, classroom and language laboratory exercises. For me this was torture as it took away from the time I could devote to the science and mathematics I needed to concentrate on to pursue a career in medicine. I am now retired but I have been involved with teaching students in other fields of education. Three years ago I decided to learn French. As I see it, the availability of computerized language programs of different varieties with voice recognition software has been a tremendous advance in language learning. I began with Rosetta Stone and enjoyed the experience and found it to be very helpful and I am happy that I had that experience. I also spent three weeks in France at an immersion school. I subscribe to Yabla which for a conscientious person can simulate an immersion experience in France. I enrolled in News in Slow French and look forward to their weekly output. Of course I also bought a book on French grammar and studied that.
Quite good. Major negative is that there is too much 'fluff' english being spoken. Whilst I understand the need to make learning fun and not boring, only 20 percent of any recording is actually learning material. It means a lot of waisted listening time to get anything of beneficial value.
English I can speak, it's French I'm not so good at!
What I love about Rocket Languages is the mobile app. I listen to the lessons while I'm driving somewhere, and in the car I can focus on the lesson and vocalize what I hear. It's the repetition which is making the learning process go quicker.
The format the lessons follow are forming an nice foundation for language learning and confidence building.
Besides the nice and easy way to study, the system is (tech part) super:
You may speak and the software performs a complete analysis (not just comparing with a previous recorded sound) but actually shows the interpreted sound so User could see the word(s) parts that he is having more trouble with correctly pronunciation .
The Rocket French is a great Product. I studied French for two years but after I graduated I didn't have the opportunity to practice French. But Rocket French is everywhere as long as you have Wi-Fi. I tried it on my laptop, my tablet and my phone; works great every time. The interface is easy to use and the lessons are easy to follow. Sample conversations are not the 'usual' boring ones. I enjoy the lessons! Also the way lessons are structured helps me remember the previous vocabulary and grammar. I would recommend Rocket French for busy people who doesn't have the time to attend regular classes. Its much cheaper and much more available.
Rocket French is absolutely the best online language learning programme that I have ever tried in my life. Comparing with Rosetta Stone or Pimsleur's French products, I think this is more comprehensive, interactive and interesting as the hosts of Rocket French introduce you to French language and culture with detailed explanations. As for the games provided, I enjoy playing them a lot and they certainly help me develop my four skills (Reading, writing, listening and speaking) in French language!
I will recommend Rocket French to all of my friends. Also, I do look forward to seeing the enrichment of teaching materials here :)
It's really useful, if you are motivated, that's the best online programme i have ever done. I am doing level one and when i finish i intend to keep up with level 2 and 3!
I like the fact that you have to speak, listen, writte, do real conversation and the audios for the lessons are very good, you don't get bored doing it which is very important!
I have retired in rural France and wish to improve my conversational French. Rocket French gave me a good basis a few years back and although I can explain myself and get by I need to learn the finer points. Comprehension is my problem so I need to listen to French that I can have translated.
I love that the program is available to me for a lifetime. I haven't explored the support forums much but when I have they were very helpful and quick to respond. I am really impressed with this program, and after studying Level 1 and half of Level 2 I took a trip to Quebec and was able to communicate pretty well.
I'm happy that I can continue to study according to my own schedule and when I am ready to study another language, I will definitely use Rocket.
