Really like the German lessons. I have tried some other software - Rocket German is much better. I especially like that the lesson plan also covers grammar and culture. It's not just learning by repetition. I also like the way it encourages learning by multiple ways. The lessons are well structured and provide great sets of practice exercises. I have found it works better having a dedicated headset.

One major flaw, which is very frustrating. That is the speech recognition software is of poor quality. I do not know why this was not pretested better. But when saying the same words the same way results in a much higher score there has to be a problem. I listen to my voice played back, and it sounds much more like the Russian speaker's voice than the guess printed by the software. Often with time and no changes necessary it will register 100%. But often it will keep on asking for a repeat. It becomes very tedious. Otherwise the package is well designed, with a grammar emphasis which is necessary but often missing from other packages. So using this package I know why and how I am making a mistake. I have used another package in conjunction with this, but the other package is not sufficient by its own because although memory of the language improves, better understanding of the language is very slow. Rocket Russian helps this.

The record with voice recognition grading really helps to get your pronunciation right, and the playback of your voice really helps you find out why you did get the grade you expected. These tools give a strong incentive to practice speaking, and have helped me to progress faster. The downside is that these tools are only practically useful on PC and not useful on Android because of speed and different limited web page. (I cannot speak for Apple versions).

I would give the course 5 stars if all features were available on all platforms.

On android viewing the website, speech recognition is so much slower to respond, and much less accurate, so the time delays become frustrating - it is very dependent on internet and wireless speed. The key thing android misses is it that it has no ability to play back what you said (so that you can hear and correct your own mistakes). From the forum comments this appears to have been missing for 2 years or more, and I think Rocket Languages should make playback of your own voice a priority fix for android users.

This is a great program that uses a mix of audio, text, and quizzes to help you learn a language. I'm trying to learn Japanese and I was very relieved when I saw the program has all the writing methods of Japan (Kanji, Katakana, Hiragana, and Romaji). I am also glad that they incorporated a way for me to record myself speaking the language. This way I can compare myself to that of the native speaker. I am currently using the Rocket Languages iOS app for my iPhone and it works perfectly (except for some audio files that won't play 100% of the time).

I would recommend this to my friends and family. Actually, I've already recommend this program to my husband, who wants to learn Spanish.

I encourage anyone, who is motived to learn a new language, to use Rocket Languages.

Rocket Languages has interactive audio lessons that makes it easier and more fun to learn from. In addition, the reviews at the end are very helpful and different from any other program I've used. I have learned way more efficiently now with so much more to look forward too.

Prior to purchasing, I did extensive research on which Spanish language learning program to select... Rosetta Stone, Tell Me More, Visual Link, Learning Spanish Like Crazy, you name it, I researched and tried it (using trial software). But, at the end of the day - and countless hours of research - Rocket Spanish had the best interface, best reviews, and most accessible teaching methods. This will be the software that my wife and I will use to first, learn Spanish, and second, introduce our daughter to the language. Wish me luck!

Initially I liked the program. But there are some frustrating elements that could be improved.
1. Too often new nouns are presented without the prefix. To really build vocabulary, we need to know whether a noun is masculine or feminine.
2. Too often expressions are presented only in the casual "tu" form. Yet most of the time we would likely need to use the formal "vous" form. But that is not provided in many of the lessons.
3. Some of the vocabulary in the lessons is not very practical. It would be better if the words chosen for a lesson were those most likely to be used on a daily basis.
4. The program does not save your progress. You have to remember where you left off. When I log in it always takes me back to an early lesson that was completed some time ago.

Good to start as a beginner but can provide more sample lessons basic free and can make other advanced lessons like essay writing poetry as chargeable. Good that hindi is given in readable form of english.

After taking a few Japanese courses in college, I ended up moving and having no access to formal instruction. While I was able to learn a few words here and there through various internet sources, most free resources give only very basic information about grammar and writing. I purchased a few textbooks which helped explain some basic grammar and writing, but there was no way to effectively test what I had learned. I was able to read and write a bit better, but I had next to no experience speaking the language since nobody around me also spoke it. So I finally started looking up instructional courses and stumbled upon Rocket Japanese.

As a full-time college student, it is a bit pricey, but nowhere near as bad as some other courses, and it's definitely not as expensive as a college course. It also covers more ground than my previous college courses did! As of now, I've finished the first module and gotten started on the second. I have a few criticisms, but they're mostly related to organization and romanization. The content itself is great, though the audio lessons start off with exaggerated pronunciation for people who have never heard or spoken the language before. It appears to lessen as you progress.
