Sports in Spanish

There is a lot of similarity between English and Spanish vocabulary for sports, which gives you a head start in remembering the words when you read or hear them, or have to use them in conversation. Most people tend to enjoy some kind of sport and, as a conversation starter, it can be a great way to find common interests with other people that you meet. If you would like to ask another person, “What sports do you like?” you simply say, “¿Qué deportes te gusta?” The appropriate response is then, “A mi, me gusta _____.”
