INSTRUCTIONS

Make sure that you listen to this Audio Lesson in a place where you can speak aloud. Repeating the words aloud is an essential part of learning to speak Spanish.

Every time I tell you a word in Spanish, repeat the word aloud after me. Try to match my pronunciation as best you can. I will repeat the word after you so that you can hear the difference. You can then repeat the word again if you like before continuing.

WRITTEN TRANSCRIPT

I recommend that you listen to the Audio Lesson the first time without the benefit of the transcript of the conversation. Why? Because hearing Spanish words aloud and learning to repeat them WITHOUT the benefit of the written word will build a very special language-learning skill in your brain. You'll learn how to start speaking a language the way a native does: from the audible word aloud. This skill will prove invaluable if you spend any time abroad, because you'll be trained in picking up new words from the conversations around you.

Nevertheless, in case you feel the need to follow along, here is the conversation you'll be covering in this lesson.

Mauricio: Buenos días, señorita.
Amy: Buenos días, señor. ¿Cómo está usted?
Mauricio: Muy bien, gracias. ¿Y usted?
Amy: Muy bien.

After we have a short conversation, I say goodbye to Amy.

Mauricio: Bueno, señorita. Ha sido un gusto.
Amy: Igualmente.
Mauricio: ¡Hasta luego!
Amy: Nos vemos.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Here is the English translation of our Spanish conversation.

Mauricio: Good morning, miss.
Amy: Good morning, sir. How are you? (polite)
Mauricio: Very well. And you? (polite)
Amy: Very well.

After we have a short conversation, I say goodbye to Amy.

Mauricio: Well, miss. It's been a pleasure.
Amy: Equally.
Mauricio: See you later!
Amy: See you.

That's it for today's lesson. I'll be seeing YOU later! ¡Hasta luego!

Mauricio
