Accessible online and available to download, these interactive language games are a fun and effective way to reinforce your Spanish lessons. They give Spanish learners active feedback in real time, and can be used at any stage during the course – whether your level is beginner, intermediate or advanced.

The Rocket Spanish Premium course includes three Spanish word games: one for Spanish vocabulary, one for audio comprehension, and one for practicing Spanish verbs. All the games are self-paced and can be repeated, giving language learners a chance to improve their score.

Rocket Spanish Software Learning Games

MegaSpanish is Rocket Spanish Premium's help-you-learn software. It comes as part of the Rocket Spanish Premium package and you can use these fun games to make learning Spanish an enjoyable and entertaining experience!

There are three types of MegaSpanish games:
- MegaVocab
- MegaAudio
- MegaVerbs

The first two will allow you to build your vocabulary (MegaVocab) and improve your recognition of spoken Spanish (MegaAudio), and these two games do not require much, if any, background learning.

Before playing the MegaVerbs game, it would be best to wait until you have a few Spanish Premium lessons under your belt. The MegaVerbs game involves changing (conjugating) Spanish verbs into different forms or "tenses" (past, present, & future). You will have a much easier time with this game, and get a lot more out of it, if you have acquired some foundation in Spanish grammar.

Your familiarity with written Spanish will also grow with the Rocket Spanish Language and Culture lessons, enough for you to play this game with more pleasure - or con más placer as they say in Spanish!

Build Your Spanish Vocabulary...

MegaVocab is a multiple-choice word recognition game that you can actually add to yourself. To add more words and pictures to the game, just select the MegaVocab Creator tab. There are already over 1,000 words and pictures in the MegaVocab game so you can select one or more of the topics that you wish to be tested on.

How it Works
: All you have to do is match the correct Spanish word to the English word shown. You get 4 points if you get it right the first time and one less point for every incorrect answer. There are 25 questions so the maximum that you can get is 100.

You can make the game more challenging by hiding the English word, but be warned that some pictures might be a bit tricky!

Improve Your Understanding of Spoken Spanish

The Rocket Spanish MegaAudio game takes MegaVocab a step further and really improves your understanding of spoken Spanish by using audio tracks for each word and phrase. Just select the topic or topics that you would like to be tested on and get playing.

How it Works
: Once you have chosen your topics and selected "GO" you will hear an audio track and be presented with a selection of 6 pictures. You have to choose the one that matches the audio. There are 20 questions and you get 6 points for getting it right the first time (again, you lose a point for every incorrect answer).

Spanish Verbs Made Easy!

Rocket Spanish MegaVerbs has been specifically designed for students and people with an intermediate to advanced level of Spanish so that they can improve their understanding of Spanish grammar.

The verb practice game differs from the other two in that it involves writing in Spanish. Just select one or more of the three tenses to get started.

The Secret Behind the Success of MegaSpanish...

The Rocket Spanish learning games are based on a database of thousands of words, and are designed with flexibility in mind. Spanish learners can choose from a selection of common topics, images are displayed with an English translation underneath, and learners have the option of 'hiding' the translated text to make the game more challenging.

All of these features give the Rocket Spanish learning games some advantages over other popular commercial platforms. Some programs use a system whereby audio clips of phrases spoken in the target language are paired with a choice of images. Once simple words are learned intuitively, more complex phrases and sentences are constructed using the vocabulary that has already been learned.

This system is designed to reflect the way in which we 'naturally' learn languages as a child; however, it does not accommodate learning preferences of those who remember words by seeing them in translation, as it does not offer translations in textual or audible form. Not having any translation available potentially causes further problems given that the link between the target language and image is always to some extent arbitrary. For instance, an image of a woman reading a book could be used to suggest both 'woman reading' and 'woman studying.' In such interfaces, there would be no clear way to know which verb is being used in the question in the target language.

In addition, the idea that we should try to mimic the way we learned as children might sound great, but is misguided in practice: it fails to recognize and exploit all of the advantages that we actually have for the simple fact that we are adults.

No matter how "competitive" you think you are, you will find these Spanish word games a welcome challenge, and gain great satisfaction when you see your score improve each time!
