I think there should be a tab for the new vocabulary words, or maybe you should just put the new words (with pinyin, definition and character) into the Extra Vocabulary tab. I constantly have to paste the character into a Chinese dictionary, type in the definition after I highlight the word I don't know then paste the character into notes.

I know this is an old post - my suggestion is that they add a "Lesson Vocabulary" section to each lesson which would include the new vocabulary for that lesson. Then when you work on the quizzes, you can master the individual vocabulary and work your way up to the more complicated sentences.
Now I actually find myself memorizing the entire sentence and then going back and learning the vocabulary.
