Hi Z-man, \n\nWhat parts of lessons 2 & 3 you stuck on? The tones or the words? One thing to remember when learning Mandarin is that it is using initials and finals for the words, ( N i) a combination of words to make word (Ni hao) and the tones. They don't tell you this in the begining of the lessons. (This is still a good program for the money.)\n\nI have chart I made up with the intall and finals. I also had a Chinese friend of mine check it to be sure it was right. I can send you a copy, but I'm not sure if they will let us share e-mails or not on here. ([redacted])\nI hope i don't get booted off of here.\n\nThere are a few Chinese people here where I live. I begin my tutoring tomarrow with a couple that own a restaurant. if you have any Chinese people in your area. you will be surprized that there are a few willing to help you. showing them you have a interest in thier language and culture. They are willing to help. You will learn faster with thier help.\n\nstuff me in your suit case so i can go see my girl in China. \n\nI wish you a happy and safe trip.\n\nsim

Hi Z Man \nI've been living in the northern part of China for around 2 years. I can tell you, even living here, I find learning Mandarin challenging. Each region has its own dialect which also confuses the newcomer. Sometimes I feel I am stuffing my head with information to the point where I can no longer absorb anymore! However, like all learning curves, just when I become totally exasperated, I have a "good day" where the language falls off my lips without me having to think too hard.\n\nChina is a fascinating place - let me know if you want any tips for when you are over here as I am more than happy to assist. My direct email is [redacted].\n\nCheers\n\nKathie

Kathie & Sim Many thanks for the inputs. Will be e-mailing you indiv. I only did the Rocket Chinese for one month before our trip -- but what a difference it made. I couldn't believe it. Thanks -- I owe you some honey (it is delicious). Zman
