Listening to words in My Vocab?

cliveminniSun, 05 Sep 2010 14:09:06 -0500
Hi,

I have noticed in several places the following with respect to My Vocab:

"Listen to the word to improve recognition and to practice your pronunciation"

But can unfortunately find no way of doing this!

I have tried in both Internet Explorer and Firefox but to no avail...

Is this possible? and if so how? It would be very useful if it did work.

Hi cliveminni,

Thanks for your post!

I apologize for the delay in responding. I'm not sure if you're aware, but our office is located in Christchurch, New Zealand and on Saturday September 4, we experienced an earthquake of magnitude 7.1. Our office, along with all of the central city, was shut all last week and we are just returning to work today.

In order to listen to the words in your My Vocab list, you need to click on the tab on the left side of the page that says "My Vocab." Once you've done this, a list with all of the vocab words you've added should appear. Next to most of them, there will be a blue audio box. Just click the 'play' (triangular) button to listen to the word. Unfortunately, at this point, not all of these words have audio attached to them. Our Product Development team is working on making this more extensive.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

All the best for your Chinese learning!

Hi,

No worries about the delay and pleased that you are managing to get things back to normal again

I have currently only added two phrases to My Vocab, and neither of them has the blue audio box next to them. The phrases are:

Wǒ hěnhǎo
Wǒ yě hěnhǎo

Do you know what percentage of words in the course actually have audio? I am surprised that these two basic and fundamental phrases do not .

I look forward to this feature becoming more complete, as i know it will be incredibly useful to my studies and learning of the wonderful chinese language!

Keep up the good work!

xie4 xie ni3,

Clive.
