I just wanted to clarify about the usage of shenme shihou. In lesson 10.3, Tao said: "Ni zuihou yici kanjian ni de bao shi shenme shihou?" Would it make any difference if I remove the "shi" in "shenme shihou" Also, if for example, I say "Shenme shihou zuihou yici kanjian ni de bao?", would it be incorrect?
Would highly appreciate the response here... Grammar is still something I'm not very confident in.
"Ni zuihou yici kanjian ni de bao shi shenme shihou?" literally translates to: You last time seen your bag is when? Please note the Chinese rarely begin a question with a question word eg What is this? Zhe shi shenme (this is what?), What do your friends call you? Ni de pengyou jiao ni shenme (Your friends call you what?). I hope this helps
@Patricia
I think so. I am taking Chinese in college, and next semester I am going to China to study. I only have the first Rocket Chinese but I still feel like I can find some good things to review. However, it seems like the other people that know characters are hiding and don't often post here using Chinese characters for practice. If you feel you are too advanced I recommend focusing more on characters now - they are the hardest part but still not too bad.
