Yuànyì vs Xiǎng

b_rennThu, 16 Dec 2010 02:26:38 -0600
In lesson 2.1, both the words yuànyì and xiǎng seem to mean 'want'. Is there any distinction between these words or are these words interchangeable?

Is it appropriate to say both of the phrases below, or is yuànyì not used when followed by a verb?
Wǒ xiǎng qù Běijīng kànyīkàn。
Wǒ yuànyì qù Běijīng kànyīkàn。

Thanks in advance.

yuanyi is willing
xiang is would like/want

yuanyi maybe more of a "i am willing to go, but personally i might not want to"

xiang is i i am willing to go and i want to / i want to go.
