Many times I have to call vendors in Germany and I am looking for a nice friendly, but professional way to say, "Thanks, Have a nice day" or "Have a nice evening". Have a nice evening is usually the best option due to the time difference, however, "Hast du einen schonen Abend" seems cumbersome or maybe too formal. Or am I overthinking this in an effort to sound like I'm a fluent speaker? Does anyone have any better suggestions? Danke, Brian Ohio, USA

Brian "tschuss" is an informal goodbye that lots of german speakers use. its polite and friendly but not overdone.

"chow" works also

"Hast du..." is in the form of a question. I think simply "Schoenen Tag." would suffice. Also, I believe you wouldn't use the "du" form unless you are on familiar terms with them but rather "Sie" or "Ihnen".
