Why do they say in German " Freust du dich........." and not Freust du......." Why the dich extra

dich is not extra.they have some verbs that are basically with sich.i am Persian we have some special verbs in our language too.where are you from

hello Matie v, Sorry for late reply. The verb in the sentence "Freust du dich?" is sich freuen. In spoken language often the "du" is not said: "Freust dich?". I hope this helps! Paul
