According to my dictionary, to stop by is "fare un salto". So I guess that stopping by is translated as facendo un salto. Literally "making a jump"

Bravo Michael, the expression "stopping by" can be translated as "fare un salto" (making a jump) or "fare una visita" (to visit) Buon divertimento. Ciao
