Hola, I can roll my 'r's, but I am very confused on when to roll and when to flip. I know on 'rr', I'm supposed to roll, and on single 'r', you just kind of flip your tongue, sounding almost like a 't' or 'd' (so I understand). I am definitely not confident saying words with 'r's in them. It also slows down my sentence, and messes up my other words because I get confused! ¡Necesito ayuda, por favor! Gracias! ~Kyle

This isn't the most helpful answer, but I think you're going to learn it just by hearing the words and remembering. Like, perro and pero; you just have to know which word uses a rolling "r" or not. Learning that is one of the time consuming aspects of this. I have used a translator website to listen to how the words are pronounced and that has helped a lot. You might want to look into that. I have also noticed that some will lightly "roll" instead of "flipping" their "r" for the pero and make it a point to exaggerate the roll for "rr" roll in perro ect. and a word like "regalo" sounds more like the English "r" as in rewind. Though I am not sure if that is an idiosyncrasy or perhaps the accent of the area?
