Yo creo que "soy soltera" es correcto. La pregunta es: ¿Cuál es su estado civil? In English, I believe ser is used before adjectives to indicate that the condition expressed by the adjectives does not result from a change. Ser is for inherent qualities and characteristics such as nationality, age, physical and moral attributes, personality, religion, and color. This explanation is almost verbatum from a Spanish text. Reviewing it you can see that our age and religion (for example) may change throughout our life (also can be the case for single or married) yet ser is the correct verb. Cuidate.

Either soy or estoy are both correct. What you have to remember is that estoy is about a state of being and temporary whereas soy is permanent or describes a set characteristic. For example: Yo estoy soltera - I am single (your current state of being) - you could get a boyfriend or a husband later Yo soy soltera - I am single woman (describing a characteristic of you who you are) Its subtle but I believe either way people will understand that you are definitely single. Same as saying: Yo estoy consada: I'm married - (state of being) - you could be come divorce later. Yo soy consada: I'm a married man (characteristic) Hope that makes sense.

Hola Rehab it is estoy soltero because soy is permanent where as estoy is temporary and i suppose you only wish to be single for a short while.
