I have skype, but I am afraid that anything after "hello, how are you" would have to be in English. LOL. Seems like the Spanish words leave my head as soon as I put them in there, but if you want to call me, my skype ID is ronaustin51

Oh, and Joan, no it is not complicated. You just need a microphone and headset. The basic skype is free and lets you talk to other skype members.
Several people can talk in a group session too. (free)

Reggie, it's easy. If I can set up an account, anyone can. Am waiting for the headset and micro. to come in the mail. When it comes, I'll be ready to do my "virgin" foray into the world of Skype.

Skype setup is a snap. Actually, it sets itself up - you just have to download it. It's truly 'for dummies".
I'd be interested - I have SKYPE for few years now; allows me to communicat all over teh world, even in the old country (Russia).

George, to get started go to http://www.skype.com and set up a free account. You will need a microphone at minimum, but I suggest you get a headset which has both headphones and a microphone. You can buy one at any good electronics store or online. Skype also sells headsets. They may be a little more expensive but if you haven't had any experience then it might be better if you go that route.

Yeah, it's an incredible easy process... I don't know what time zone everyone is in, but maybe, if everyone is willing to coordinate, we can schedule a time/date and have a practicing conference...as if we are all old friends... Again my Skype ID is "akinginme"

Once you are on the site, click on the MORE tab, then users. Heidita is the very first member on the list.
You can search for Sandy with "sanlee" and me with "ron_austin". Once you go to a member's profile you can scroll down to the link that lets you send a PM.

You have to write the intro message to Heidita o Sanlee and see if there are still openings. I don't know if they have a limit on the number of participants.

Get the SKYPE. It's free, it is available for download just about everywhere, and it installs itself without bothering you with technicalities.
The only thing: in the very beginning of the installation SKYPE will ask you if you want certain toolbars from Google etc installed, and will give you checkboxes that are already checked. I strongly recommend you uncheck them - those toolbars are a nuisance.

Maiken you are sure welcome to join in our chat. So far the Rocket group has not set a time or date for our first chat. We need to get everyone's time zone and everyone's Skype ID to do this. In the mean time another group is having a chat Sat, Feb 12 at 6PM Eastern time. Details for joining have already been posted in the threads above.
I agree with Michael on the toolbars. It is best to skip them.

I live in Florida so I am in the Eastern Time Zone too. There doesn't seem to be any formal, organized chat on Rocket Spanish right now; at least that I am aware of. If anyone knows different, please give details.
I have been chatting with some people who are members of Spanish Dict. They did have a chat every Saturday night at 5:30, but seems to have dried up as well. Some of the people do get together informally and there are two ways to get going on that. 1) Know someone who chats with them that can contact you when a chat sesson starts. My Skype ID is ronaustin51 and you are welcome to contact me via Skye whenever you'd like. I only have headphones so I might not see that you are calling unless I am sitting at the computer when the call comes in. I am in front of the computer from about 10AM to 2 in the morning, so there's a pretty good chance of that happining. LOL.
2) Join the SpanishDict community and make a post on their site indicating that you want to chat on Skype. Their web site is http://www.spanishdict.com and it is free to join.
Okay, looks like my Skype light is lighting up, so I gotta go.
