Hola! I find interpreting spanish song lyrics then learning to listen to the song recordings until I fully "hear & understand" them in Spanish to be a very useful "listening" tool in learning Spanish. In the opening verse of La Paloma, Nana Mouskouri sings "Y una linda guachinanga como una flor, Se vino detras de mi, que si señor". This song is easy to interpret & her pronunciation is great, but I can't quite work out what "guachinanga" means - is it "orphan maid" or something like that. Please help. Trevor, Australia

Somehow, I just don't think that's the word you're hearing. I found the following at wordreference.com: guachinango,-a adj LAm 1   (zalamero) slimy 2   (astuto) sharp

you could make sure by using google, and typing in " spanish lyrics paloma " or whatever you think the tittle of the song is. Same goes for typing in " nana mouskouri " good luck. have fun. edited: I can do much better after a 3 second effort !!!!! type in : Y una linda guachinanga como una flor, and see the translations straight away Have fun Antonio
