I just noticed this new addition to the course, and I have to say I love it. Whenever I'm unsure about my pronunciation, I can check it easily :) One little suggestion though, it would be nice if there were two buttons, one which opened the Rocket Record panel, and one that just played the audio clip, as it's a little cumbersome when you just want to listen to lots of the embedded audio files. Great work constantly updating the course ;)

Bonjour Clair The Rocket Record files are not downloading so i am anable to listen to the spoken french nor am i able to record my pronounciation. This has all happened over the last two days. Up untill two days ago everthing was working well and i was realy enjoyng the course. Denis

Pascal do you need too pay for that system? btw what sort of site do you look at when wanting too learn grammar and advancing your japanese Pascal p. Robin

@Robin S Nope, Rocket Record is a new free feature in Rocket Languages. Though I've actually had some trouble with it >>I can't seem to record my own voice anymore :( For grammar I've used a combination of the Rocket Japanese newsletters, and some additional grammar books. Kodansha has plenty. I like the handbooks for Japanese Adverbs and Adjectives and for Verbs, as well as one titled "How to sound intelligent in Japanese". They also have books on particles, and even some student-friendly Japanese literature. I have Heisig's book "Remembering the Kanji" for, well, remembering the kanji, but honestly, I prefer to learn intuitively from reading books etc. with furigana, especially since Heisig doesn't teach any readings until his 2nd and 3rd volumes, and, even then doesn't teach all the readings and compounds involving the character in question. Despite that however, his method is fun, and, while not entirely useful, probably a good starting point, in conjunction with some flash cards and additional reading material. Furthermore, if you learn vocabulary, you may glean a few of the Japanese-derived readings of the kanji, since he associated each character with an English keyword. With vocabulary, never underestimate the power of an import video game, anime or manga. I've learnt a fair bit of uncommon vocabulary that way....though don't skimp on the general day-to-day stuff. Two great online dictionary resources are: www.jisho.org This is a very concise, easy-to-use dictionary, great for looking up words quick. There's even a version optimized for your cell phone. www.japandict.com This is far less concise, and a bit clunky, but features full conjugation for all verbs, and is more detailed on the whole.
