I like that we can change so that some parts of the site render in our target language. But it is a lot of trouble to do that every time, so I usually don't. Is it possible to add an option in settings or some other place so that the site renders in the target language every time a user enters the site? The more we use our target language for everyday purposes, the faster we learn.

Hi Dan,

I haven't noticed that we can change the site language. Where is that option?

If so, I wonder why they would not just offer a menu of languages available in the upper right where they have username and search, etc. I think most sites offer a language setting either at the upper right (duolingo) or the bottom right (google/microsoft).

Jason: up on the banner of the page, right under the logout button is a link that says, for me, Español. I think you are a German student, no? So there should be a little German flag and whatever the German word for Germany is....Deutch?

I believe the option is available only for certain languages like Spanish and Japanese.  For instance, when logged in to do Spanish, in the upper right corner below "logout" I see a box with South America followed by Espanol that I can click on to change the language text.  If there is nothing there, then that language does not have that option.

They only offer the language that you are studying so in Spanish I can toggle between Spanish and English.  In Japanese, I can toggle between Japanese and English.

The language change doesn't seem to be an option on either French (Levels I-III) or German (Levels I-III). I checked all the tabs in case the interface changed, but hovering below LogOut just logged me out. :(

Ahh, ok. Yep, as Torusan mentions, we have no options like that yet for French or German.

Well, I think Dan is right. That makes a lot of sense to have it as a profile option.
For each study language you should be able to choose a default teaching language to avoid needing to switch to Spanish, see instructions in English and then have to change the teaching language (or interface language) to Spanish.

Hi all - Yes, the language can only be changed on Spanish and Japanese at this stage. As the feature is not used by a large percentage of people we aren't looking at rolling that out across the other languages at this stage.

The reason I don't use the feature, as Dan mentions at the start of this thread, is that I have to turn it on every time. If it were set permanently, I would leave it on.

Hi Steven - Ok, I will add making the toggle "permanent" to the wish list for future product development.
