hi, im doing my 3rd audio lesson and im confused with the verb TOMAR because it's supposed to mean TO TAKE but on this audio it means TO DRINK! Quieres algo a beber? Is it correct or do I have to use TOMAR? Please let me know asap Gracias

Both are (technically) correct: tomar=to take (food/drink). beber=to drink While beber is the "official" verb, tomar can be used as well. From previous experience, I've found that "tomar" is used frequently with beverages, especially alcoholic ones, as well as food, while beber specifically means "to drink". Egs. Tomo el desayuno = I eat (take) breakfast. El bebe una taza de leche = He drinks a glass of milk Vas a tomar una cerveza? = Are you gonna have a beer? Hope this helps :)

We have to be flexible about the connections between Spanish and English words. Beber, I think, has a pretty straightforward connection with drink. Tomar, on the other hand, has a wide variety of uses. For example, in lesson 12.1 is the following sentence: Entonces voy a tomar el resto de mis vacaciones comenzando el jueves. Drink can be either a verb or a noun. When it is a verb it mean to drink a liquid, but can also be used to mean absorb, as in drink in the culture or drink in the sun.
