Hi everyone, Je m'appelle Hannah. Je viens de Malaisie. Je suis Malaisienne. J'ai vingt ans. J'adore la musique. I'm going to Paris and Toulouse next year September for 2 weeks. Is there anyone who are currently staying in France or anyone who traveled to France before? I need some advices before I go there. Merci Beaucoup!

Make sure you go to Dórsay museum I enjoyed it more than the Louvre for its art. I did get a bit tired of religious paintings in the Louvre

Bonjour Hannah - The Louvre is fantastic but plan your trip well as it is so large it is impossible to see all of it. Have a look at their website and choose the exhibits that interest you. Plan to eat prior to going in. The cafeteria takes for ever to get served and the food is so-so. You can lose at least 75 mins if you eat there. Go early in the morning if you go! The hop on hop off buses provide good value for the money. Especially at the end of the day when you are tired but don't want to go back to your accommodations yet. I usually buy a pass later in the afternoon, cruise the streets (with commentary) and decide which stops I would like to go to in the morning. The usual tourist stops are of interest, but I would plan to use one day of walking. Pick up a map and enjoy Paris.

I was in Paris last June. I also loved the Orsay and Louvre Museums. I ate at the Louvre; I can't remember the cost or food quality, but my experience was that it was quick. If your budget is a bit tight and you want a good view, go to the La Basilique du Sacré Cœur de Montmartre, Not only is the building fabulous and entrance is free, but the view is also fabulous. Being a popular destination, there are crowds. I also used the hop-on-off buses and enjoyed it. One stop is near the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile. This place is well worth the visit; I didn't realize it was so huge until I was there. You must pay if you walk up to the obsevation deck, but to just visit the street level is free. I've also read there are some very large, beautiful gardens but ran out of time before I could get there. Again they are free.

Hands down... The Sewers of Paris. A friend of mine went and suggested it to me. Then I went and found it fascinating. Definitely worth while http://www.parismuseumpass.com/musee-visite-publique-des-egouts-de-paris-23.htm

Cool, thanks for the tip, roxypalooza! I'm actually going to Nice via TGV in a few weeks, but I'm flying into Paris so I can check this out. Is 1/2 day enough, or should I devote a whole day?

Sounds fantastic..errr... I mean fantastique! In regards to how much time you choose to stay, I'd say it really depends on your style of travel. Technically, you could go straight to the site (any site really), check it out and blast off but if you're not good under time constraints, then give yourself more time. If you rented a car, it's about half an hour from the airport. And by the way, the entrance into the "Musee Des Egouts De Paris" is really obscure, it's been a few years since I've been there but I remember thinking that I'd easily be able to walk by and miss it if I hadn't been looking for it. Amusez-vous bien!

You didn't say what kind of musique, but if you like "classical" almost every church has music events (fabulous acoustics too). The thing to do to find ALL musical events, in fact all EVENTS, is to pay 0.50 euro for "Pariscope" a listing of the week's events - it comes out on Wednesdays. You can buy it at one of those magazine/newpapar kiosks you see in major squares.

Ooh, just thought of a fun thing to do that almost nobody knows about: go to the auction house Drouot (at the same metro stop) where they have an auction every Friday at 1pm (1300), but you can go on Thursday all day to see the stuff - 18 rooms stuffed with everything imaginable, from rugs to wine to jewelry to popart to .... go thursday just to see the stuff

Look up Fat Tire Bike Tours. They have tours of Paris and Versailles. I love their motto - If you work up a sweat, we weren't doing our job right! We took one of their tours in Berlin. You get comfortable fat tire bikes, and you toodle about with a guide. Stops are usually a pretty short ride apart. I don't think we went more than a mile at any one time. There also was a stop for lunch. You can check their site for tour duration. I did a quick check and the Versailles tour take up a day. The day tour is Paris is half a day.

I wasn't up the Eiffel Tower when I was Paris -- maybe next time. For those with a hankering to visit the Tower, it has a new attraction. They've installed a glass floor on the first floor observation deck; imagine looking down through the floor to the ground 57 metres below.
