I just watched "I've Loved You So Long", A French movie with English subtitles. A really good movie, by the way, worth watching, even if I was trying to broaden my learning techniques. I can look on Amazon, I guess, but maybe someone out there has some suggestions.

Another good idea is watching english films with french sub titles, try to look at films with not to much slang. I find this can be very helpfu because you can stop reading the sub titles occassionally and still keep up with the film.

Music - Renaud, some good ones are Les Bobos, Morgan de toi, ma blonde, arreter la clope!, j'ai retrouve mon flingue! The guy writes much about what he's going thru in life, wikipedia his discography and you'll see the context of the songs.

I remember watching a movie when I was in France last year called "Banzai". It was a comedy, and even though I didn't speak much French, I spent half the movie clutching my sides with laughter. Can't seem to find the movie anywhere though. Oh, all the "Asterix & Obelix" comics were originally written in French (they're by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny). They're a nice bit of lighthearted reading.

Vincent Cassel is a favorite actor of mine. I recently purchased La Haine (1995), Read My Lips (2001), and of course Mesrine. All subtitled, all different and all fabulous.
