In the Rocket French Program Lesson LP05 Quantities: under the "Les Activities" section questions for translation A.17 & A.18 *Can anyone inform me of why d'autres is used instead of encore? * In the bonus audio (vocab) section the definition of d'autres means other and encore means more. Therefore the translation of the two sentences would be "Are there other apples?" and "There are a dozen other apples." just trying to get it... jourdan

Hi there, yes, you are right and the answer is in the translation. In English it sounds strange to say:" Are there other apples" hence the proposed translation. "Y a-t-il encore des pommes" :"Are there some more apples"? I hope that makes sense. :D
