Am I alone in being confronted by a pop up box explaining: 'Want to build your vocabulary.......' which is constantly refreshing itself and thus preventing me from kicking off the first lesson ?

Solved it myself. What was missing was the delete button at the top right hand corner of the message - but when I clicked at the bottom "Listen to conversation in English (Listen in French had been highlighted) the delete button appeared and I was able to lose the offending pop up - after four hours !
