vocabulary and translation

Is there an area on the Rocket French site where you can simply look up a word in English and get the French translation? I think that would be a great addition to the site if there not.

Hi there,

unfortunately we do not have a dictionary function on our site. However the grammar guide comes with a vocab list of all the words used in the course. I recommend investing in a good French dictionary as that is a useful reference tool. If you prefer to look words up online I recommend doing a Google search for an online translation site, however some of the sites haven't got many entries. You could try Babelfish and see if you like it.
All the best for your French learning!

If you are looking for a really good online dictionary, try the Google translator. Within the translator software are several tools including translating help for many languages as well as a dictionary function that I have found most useful and much faster than looking a word up in a book. Simply type in a word, and hit translate.

Bonjour à tous!

If you are looking for a good online dictionary then I would suggest wordreference.com which has dictionaries for a number of languages and is very comprehensive. So, to all my French students out there, give it a go and tabassum, there is even an arabic to english dictionary.

À très bientôt!
