In this chapter I am unclear on what is the correct pronunciation of "J'ai besoin" (I need)
It is pronounced " bess-one" and "buzz-one" depending on who is saying it.
Which is correct or are they both o.k ?

Both is fine. "bess-one" is probably more common, however depending on the local accent of the speaker it can sound quite different. If in doubt always try to copy Claire's accent as she has a very common accent.
