Why is to say (a little tired) is (un pue fatigûe) and not. ( un pettie fatigùe)

Bonjour Jonnybegood,
"Petit" is an adjective that is used to modify a noun, for example: "a little house" - "une petite maison". However, if you want to modify a verb or in your case an adjective we need to use an adverb, for example "a little tired" - "un peu fatigué". "un peu" in this case is used as an adverb.

Please explain the following:
a) zero gloriole
b) embrasser, which can be used in various ways. How many ways can this be used.
For instance, it is used differently when you say, "Le regard est éveillé, prêt à balayer la glace, à l'embrasser."
