Hi all, is it correct that you can greet someone by saying "salut" as well as using it to say goodbye? Just wondering...

Hi Lewis, yes, that's right. That makes the whole learning process easier doesn't it :wink: You can also use the following expressions: Au revoir= Good-bye Adieu= Farewell A demain= See you tomorrow Just listen to the Rocket French Interactive Audio Lessons and you will hear different greetings at the start and end of every lesson. So Salut is like the italian Ciao? That you can use for say hello and good-bye?

Yup, it's pretty versatile. As an aside, people also use "ciao" in France (particularly in the south), but it's used as a goodbye.
