Most of the time it is followed by the infinitive of the verb .
Example : "Il vaut mieux faire que dire" (French proverb that can be translated literally as "It's better to do things than say them". English translation will be "Doing is better than saying".
"Laisser" is the translation of the verb "to leave" but it' s also used in some idiomatic expressions as:
laisser faire = to let someone do something
laisser dire = to let people talk
