When you click on a persons pic you can tell how many languages they are studying here. Mine has four but I only tried the Japanese trial, dont care much for Spanish anymore, dont have time for korean yet, and finally my main study: chinese. My Question: What is the rocket languages user you have seen who studies the most languages? How many do you study?

I didn't know I could do that... Either way, You're probably the first person I've seen to somewhat have learned as many languages as I've given it a go at... The given one everyone takes advantage of is the fact we are native at English (1). I studied French from 7th grade to Junior year (Up to and including French 4)... would still study it if my Japanese Host High School had the class... I studied Spanish from 7th grade to Half of Junior year (Completed up to and including Spanish 4's 1st semester)... I will probably not study Spanish much beyond what I have, my interest in South American countries isn't great enough to fuel my desire to learn the language. I stopped after the end of 1st semester in Junior because I needed to get a Gym and Law class in my school schedule in order to make it possible for me to graduate while studying abroad in Japan... also I was just kinda sick of the class anyways so I stopped... I started self-teaching myself using Rocket Languages since December of 2008 and am now an exchange student in Japan for my Senior year of high school (profile pic is myself-introduction at a Rotary inbound orientation in Mutsu city, Aomori Prefecture, which was televised apparently >.>). Depending on how things work out, I may consider studying Mandarin or Korean, but that is going to happen after I become fluent (by my definition of the word fluent) in Japanese. So yeah... So in terms of my college application I think I got the 2 years of a foreign language covered multiple times over...

I'm studying Spanish, Welsh, and Irish, and also picking up Scottish Gaelic and some other alphabets. I'm hoping to learn Russian, Vietnamese, and German.

I have seen a user with 12 languages in their profile, three of which had more than 10,000 points accumulated. Maybe that person is an employee of Rocket and can dabble free-of-charge. Or maybe not. I'm learning just one language: Chinese. I also attend a volunteer-run Chinese language school on every Sunday for two hours. Rocket provides a good supplement to my in-person program (or vice versa).

Learning a foreign language requires a lot of dedication and determination. It is certainly a life-long learning experience for us. I don't believe that you can learn a language proficiently one by one or one after another. You need to continue learning that language even after you are fluent at it. Otherwise, you will forget and lose what you have learnt.

I absolutely agree. You never stay at the same level in a language - you are either progressing or regressing. The work is always ongoing. I am bilingual English-French and learning Spanish. If I don't continue to strive to improve my French, my conversation skills in that language collapse around a minimalist vocabulary.

I speak other languages, but now that I am tackling Arabic, I try not to study or speak the others. They bleed into my Arabic and create a babel mess.

In my experience, I would have to agree with JK日本語 and Steven. If I don't keep practicing, I lose what I've learned. If you don't count English, I'm working on three languages, but I've dabbled in three others. I only use Rocket for Chinese, though. I'm not even close to 12 languages like the super language learner mentioned here!
