Hello, my name is Adelheide. I am a junior in college, living in the beautiful state of Oregon. My fascination with the German language started last year. Through my school I was able to travel to Germany for a three week exchange program. We lived with host families and travelled throughout the north of Germany. Up to that point my only exposure to German came from Pimsleur tapes at our library. They served me well, but after returning from my trip I enrolled in German 101 at my college. I finished all three terms and learned so much, but I am transfering to a different school this fall that doesn't offer German. It was very disapointing. I chose Rocket German to use on my own while at school this fall. I don't want to lose what I've learned, and my goal is to become fluent and someday spend more time in Germany. I'm applying to several study abroad programs next year so hopefully I will be able to spend a longer period of time being with, and around, German speaking people. While in Germany I lived in the village of Stadthagen which is an hour east of Hannover. I enjoyed visiting Hambourg, Berlin, Wolfsburg, Hamelin, Goslar, and many other wonderful cities. It was amazing to walk inside buildings, and on streets, that held so much history. With our barely 100 year old buildings here in Oregon, seeing something from the eleventh century was amazing! I look forward to learning more, and participating in these forums. Adelheide

My family has a distant connection to Germany. I believe my Great(x4) Grandfather immigrated from Bavaria. My first name is actually from the book "Heidi" by Johanna Spyri.
