Hallo, Ich heiße Dianna. I am married to a German guy for 4 years now and he lived in the UK for more than 22 years. He doesnt have anymore German accent and hardly speak German except when he go on business trips to Germany or whenever we go back to Germany to visits. I love to get to know people and I find it frustrating when I cant speak to my family in Germany. Most of them don't speak English and so you can imagine I have been a very quiet family member and I am hating it. So I decided to pick up German and determine to master the language! hahaha. The last few months I have been teaching myself German thrugh all the German lanuage site I can grab hold but I realise one thing, I need to learn to speak.. not just to read... So I am really hoping Rocket German will do its magic. I have read a lot about Rocket and how good this program is. I am really excited and already got my 6 free lessons but now going through them again... So please let me know how you guys are doing.. :) Be great to keep in touch! dianna

Hey Dianna, Its uncanny how sort-of similar our situations are, except it's my girlfriend who has been in the UK that amount of time and I know what you mean when you visited Germany, the same happened to me. I just used what little German I did know and utilized my time listening and trying to understand the words I heard most frequently. I can tell you Rocket German has been a wicked boost to my capability of learning and understanding German. If I were you, I would get the full Rocket German course, if you haven't already. Viel Glück! -Cooper-

Guten Tag, first of all learning a new language should be fun. I learned English at school and perhaps it wasn't as much fun as it could have been. That's why it is so important to me to make German fun for you. Play the MegaGames for a quick German Vocab fix and listen to Nik and my adventures in the Interactive Audio Course. You have a real advantage. Having a girlfriend who speaks the language is a great help and will give you the necessary motivation. Enjoy the course and let me know how you get on.

I spent some time in Germany in the 80s with my husband who was in the Canadian military. I did not have the courage back then to try a language even though I did learn several words. Plus we were surrounded by English speaking people and many of the locals spoke English. One of the challenges I am facing now is understanding the spoken work and the other is word order. Other than the lessons, is there somewhere I can hear the spoken word and have the ability to slow the speach down? Vielen Dank

Hi there, unfortunately the audio files can't be slowed down. We always include a section in the Interactive Audio lessons where we repeat the sentences broken down and slowly. However you will find that by listening to the natural speed you will have a great advantage when hearing spoken German as you will already be used to the fast speed. It might take a bit longer to start with, but once you have the hang of it it will be a breeze. Let us know how you get on. Paul
