Hello my name is Níck. I decided to learn German Because my Girlfriend is German. I met her in Australia while she was on a 1 year exchange student program. I was 22 and she was almost 18. We were together for 4 months thereabouts when she had to return home to Germany. And that was when I decided I was ready for something new and pack my things and did the biggest move ive ever done. And so life is rather difficult here unless you speak German expecially when I live in Frankfurt now. So not only am I learning if for a neccessity but I guess you could say for love and also for the intrest. Its great to be learning a third language. Im excited that when Im finished I will be very international. =D

Hi Nick, Love is the best motivation to learn a language. Which other languages have you learned so far? All the best to you!

Hi Nick, I live near Frankfurt too! However as nearly everyone in Frankfurt it seems speaks English it is very hard to practise speaking German without the person you are speaking to giving you that ' withered' look and responding in fluent English! Good Luck Dale.

Hey Dale, I experienced the same in Karlsruhe.. don't take it so personally, it's not a withering look.. just ask politely if they will speak German with you, even if you aren't perfect, so that you can practice. In my experience people oblige and in fact will help you. They are just using you as English practice! You could say that you need more practice than them! Have a pretzel for me! tchuss
