I love to hear the lines spoken for me to imitate, but is there a way to adjust the speed? FYIO, I'm an aging but perky 77-year old monk at an originally German monastery in PA, USA, and eager to pick up conversational ability to use in speaking to a friend in Muenchen, Germany, and to write letters to him and family. Dear Fr. Jerome, welcome to the Rocket German forum. Having a friend to practice your German with is a great advantage. Perhaps he could start writing you letters in German? If you have any trouble understanding them we are here to help. Unfortunately the speed of the audio lessons can't be adjusted. The reason for doing the conversations at a natural speed is that this is how you will hear spoken German in reality. When each sentence gets broken down we have slowed down the speed slightly so that you can pick up each syllable. If you have trouble picking up all the new sounds I would recommend practicing each lesson a few times. Only move on to the next lesson when you feel comfortable with the previous one. Once you get the hang of it you will find it much easier to understand spoken German in real life situations. You will already be used to the natural speed. Actually, there is a way to slow down the audio. I use it frequently. If you download the audio file, you can play it back in Windows Media Player. Go to VIEW, click on ENHANCEMENTS, and choose PLAY SPEED SETTINGS.
