Nathalie, Consider the following sentence: Folgen Sie mir! / Follow me! Mir is the appropriate pronoun. Mich is not, because folgen is a dative verb. Consider the following sentence: Koennen wir Sie/Ihnen folgen? Some say Sie is the appropriate pronoun, others say Ihnen is the appropriate pronoun. Which pronoun is correct?

Hi, The appropriate pronoun is "ihnen". The verb folgen is a dative verb. In general "Sie" changes in the dative case to "ihnen". "she"/sie changes to "ihr" , "they"/sie and "formal you"/Sie changes to "ihnen". Other examples for dative verbs are; danken=to thank, antworten= to answer, helfen=to help and gefallen=to like. Examples: Ich danke ihnen. Ich antworte ihnen. Ich helfe ihnen. Ich gefalle ihnen. I hope this helps! Paul
