Hi, Could someone explain the difference between the three -- werde, würde and wurde. My undersanting is the following 1. werde is used in future form for example ich werde arbeiten, ich werde spazieren 2. würde is used as conditional form like would in English. ich würde arbeiten, ich würde spazieren. Is this correct? Also what about wurde ? when is this used.

Hi Karthik, You are correct. "Ich werde arbeiten" is "I will work" simple future, "ich würde arbeiten" is "I would work" but the past tense is not as you might think used with "wurde" as it wouldn't make sense in relation to the verb"arbeiten"="to work". "I was working" is "Ich war arbeiten". Examples for "wurde": "Das Haus wurde gebaut"="The house was built" "Der Hund wurde behandelt"="The dog was treatet" If you have any questions let me know Gruß Paul

I think (and please correct me if I am wrong Paul) that another way to keep it straight is to think of wurden as the past tense of werden (to become). Thus it is equivalent to using "became" in English which in some usage, but not all as Paul points out, is almost the same as "was". For example, one could say, "I became sick" or "I was sick" but to use Paul's example you couldn't say "I became working".

Yes, 'wurden' can also be the past tense of 'werden' but as you mentioned the past tense of 'Ich werde arbeiten' is not 'Ich wurde arbeiten' but 'Ich war arbeiten'. Gruß Paul
