Why isn't it Guter Morgen? I'm guessing this is the accusative form, am I right? Why not the nominative form?

Dear Lorraine,
Guten Morgen has taken the accusative form because it is implied to be an abbreviation of 'Ich wünche Ihnen einen Guten Morgen'. So whenever we say good morning to someone, it means 'i wish you a good morning'. In that sense, it is seen in an object form. Hence the assucative. Cheers!
