After carefully learning Lesson 2.4, I started 3.1, and the review at the beginning. But there's extra words in the review conversation :o So, please tell me what word came at the end of: Ja, ich muss zum Hotel Adlon - was it "fahrten"??? And, after he said: Nein. Ich bin geschäftlich hier. Is he saying "Es gibt ein Seminar im Hotel"??? Thanks Judy

Hi Judy! Yes, you did! The first extra word in the review conversation was "fahren" ("Ja, ich muss zum Hotel Adlon fahren"). "fahren" means "to drive". It is perfectly fine to use it in this sentence, but in everyday conversations you would drop it, as it is not necessarily needed. The next sentence was "Es gibt ein Seminar im Hotel", which means "there is a seminar at the hotel". You've done very well! All the best for your learning. Nathalie

Lesson 2.4, in the Extra Vocabulary it has: Ich muss zum Seminar fahren. I have to get to the seminar. Ich muss zum Konferenzraum fahren. I have to get to the conference room. Ich muss zum Museum fahren. I have to get to the museum. Ich muss zum Restaurant fahren. I have to get to the restaurant. In the testing, it also includes fahren in these statements. Both the PDF and the audio Extra Vocab include fahren. In the lesson audio itself there is no fahren when the same examples are used. Doesn't the fahren mean to drive? which means the English should include that? Which is correct please? Thanks.

I will certainly defer to Paul, although I haven't seen his comments in quite awhile. Fahren has other meanings besides drive. It can also mean to go, ride, move, transport. I believe that when fahren is used, it means locomotion of some kind other than walking. To say "Ich fahre mit dem Bus" means I am riding the bus, not literally driving it. When gehen is used, I believe it normally refers to walking. Now as to dropping the verb completely, as in "Ich muss zum Hotel Adlon" See the response by Nathalie, who is a native speaker, a couple of paragraphs above this one.
