"Ich möchte bitte einen Tisch für zwei Personen bestellen

In Quiz 4.3.1, one of the questions is:

How do you say "a table (m) for two" in German? with the possible answers being

ein Tisch für zwei Personen
eine Tisch für zwei Personen
einer Tisch für zwei Personen
einem Tisch für zwei Personen

In the lesson, is says you ask this same question by stating, "Ich möchte bitte einen Tisch für zwei Personen bestellen" so why is there not an answer to the question is the quiz "einen Tisch für zwei Personen."

I think both are correct, but I see how it would be confusing.

I believe einen is used in the full sentence because it is what "I want to order", so ein changes to the accusitive einen. Without the subject/verbs, it's just 'ein Tisch.'

Hello TueffelHunden,

"Ein Tisch für zwei Personen" is the nominative form and "einen Tisch für zwei Personen" is the accusative form. Both versions are correct depending on what you want to say. You are right to be confused. The quiz question does not make it clear enouph.

Alles Gute
