What does this word actually mean and when/how do I use it properly?

Hi there, "schon" means "already". It can also be used as a filler word and then it can mean a lot of different things, that often don't really need translating. Nun komm schon (a parent to their child that is clearly not in a hurry when they are) - Come on I hope that helps
