Should it be 'ho' or 'hain'?

Dear Nikita,

In Chapter 1.3 Learning Hindi, the question 'Kya aap tayaar ho?' asked by Rohan confuses me of how exactly to use 'ho' and 'hain'. I understand that the pronoun 'aap' goes with 'hain' whereas 'tum' does with 'ho'. Please confirm me if I am right or wrong.

Thank you in advance,

EnDianPhile

It's not in the dialogue you referred to. It's in the explanation when they are reviewing the last chapter and just before they start the new one, Rohan asks "Kya aap tayaar ho?"

Namaskar Nikita

I am a little confused when you use "ha" or "ho" ?
Nathan STue, 15 Feb 2011 06:23:00 -0600
Your refering to hai (or hain if its nasaled)? If so, the ho and hai is used depending on the pronoun, so...
aap = haiN (nasaled)
tum = ho
main = huuN - (also nasaled)

yah = hai
vah = hai
ye = haiN
ve = haiN
(Note: Many speakers use ye (for both yah and ye) and vah (for both vah and ve) however it is often pronounced as "vo".
