kaise haiM aap? ummeedh hai ki aap kee paDaaee achChee tharah chal rahee hai!

In this post I will tell you about a few “Idioms and Proverbs” in hindi.

Idioms and Proverbs – muhaavare aur lokokthiyaaAO

Every language has its own way of expressing ideas and so is Hindi. Try these idioms and proverbs, and they may turn out very handy during your Indian trip!

Suppose you are very happy and want to express your feeling, the following expression can be useful in such occasions.

aMg aMg muskuraanaa = to be very happy

If we consider word by word meaning of this expression;

aMg = a body part
aMg aMg = each and every part of body

muskuraanaa = to laugh

So, when taken together the phrase means “each and every part of the body is laughing”, which means the person, is very happy.

Example

thaajmahal ko dhekhkar yaathree ke aMg aMg muskuraathe haiM

ताजमहल को देखकर यात्री के अंग अंग मुस्कुराते हैं ।

The tourist is very happy on seeing the Thajmahal .

ko dhekhkar = on seeing

yaathree = the tourist

Here is another useful and interesting phrase to express how hard you worked to attain something.

aakaash paathaal ek karnaa = to work very hard

The word by word meaning goes like this;

aakaash = Sky

paathaal = Underground ( an imaginary place under the ground level of earth )

ek karnaa = to make one OR to assemble

So, the meaning together is “to assemble sky and underground” which means to work very hard.

Example

India jaane ke visa ke lie mujhe aakaash paathaal ek karnaa padaa

इन्डिया जाने के विसा के लिए मुझे आकाश पाताल एक करना पडा |

I had to work very hard to get Indian visa

jaane ke lie = to go

mujhe = to me

Well, I hope you will not have to work hard to learn these!

Enjoy learning Hindi!
