I am sorry to say that I have not done my Italian course for months. My sister who sent me the money to start the course died in May. I went home to her funeral and since I came back I have not really visited Rocket Italian. However, I have now decided to resume. I am so pleased with the ability to record my voice and compare it with a native Italian. I don't expect to have such a hiatus again. I am going to have to go over Stage One which I had already finished.

Hi Maria.I am very glad to descovery Rocket languages courses.I am Brazilian but living in Italy for about nine years. I speak italian daly, in my job with my girl friend and friends, but i dont right very well thats the reason i am going on with this expetacular course. Ciao Helio, "ci piace", "mi piace" and "Le piace" are the conjugation of the verb "pacere" (to like). This verb is a bit tricky. In English you normally say "A likes B". In Italian instead you will need to say "B pleases A". So the order in the sentence will be : indirect object pronoun + verb + subject. Example: we like pizza = ci piace la pizza (literally "pizza" pleases us") I like to travel = mi piace viaggiare (literally "travel" pleases me") You can use the friendly form in different situations: -if you want to ask a friend if she/he like something (singular form) Example : ti piace la pizza? (do you like pizza?= ti/you singular) -if you want to ask more than one friend if they like something (plural form) Example : vi piace la pizza? (do you like pizza?= vi/you plural) The formal version is very simple. If you are addressing to a person (singular form) you don't know you will need to say: -Le piace la pizza? In the past when you were addressing to more than person (plural form), you would normally use the pronoun "loro". Nowadays the pronoun "vi " is commonly used. But don't be surprise if you still hear the sentence "ai Signori piace la pizza?". It's an old and very elegant version. I hope this helps. Ciao
