I stumbled on to the verb chiamarsi which seems to be the more appropriate verb than chiamare when it comes to being used with "come ti chiami" or "mi chiamo...". Although identified as a verb with full conjugation on the site about.com, it doesn't really obey the "are", "ere", or "ire" verb endings. So what is this word and how is it to be used??

Ciao Bryan, the verb "chiamarsi" can be a bit tricky. It's the literal translation of "to call oneself". The conjugations is : -io mi chiamo (I call myself...) -tu ti chiami -lui/lei si chiama -noi ci chiamiamo -voi vi chiamate -loro si chiamano As it comes from the regular verb "chiamare", the ending for the present tense will be the same as regular verb ending in -are: -o -i -a -iamo -ate -ano Please remember that these endings are valid for regular verbs only.
