I wanted to change my answering machine for my cell phone to Japanese, but need some clarification for it first. A translation would be awesome! :D English : I am not here right now, so please leave a message, thanks! All I know is here = koso I am = desu now = ima please = onegai shimasu thanks = arigatou so here's all I can think of it being said... "koso nai ima desu, [leave a message] onegai sheimasu, arigtou!" I'm probably totally wrong though  It's worth a try. that's how we learn!

Konnichiwa! You're nearly there! When it comes to phone conversations and leaving messages...it seems that it's a complete different set of words for every language...anyways, here's various ways you can say - "I am not here right now/ I cannot answer the phone now - so please leave a message, thanks" - in Japanese. *Tadaima denwa ni deru koto ga dekimasen. Pii-to iu hashin-on no ato ni meseeji o onegaishimasu. * Tadaima - Now / At this moment denwa - phone deru koto ga dekimasen - cannot take the phone call Pii-to iu - At the beep Hashin-on - Answering sound ato - after meseeji - message onegaishimasu - please *Tadaima denwa ni deru koto ga dekimasen. Hashin-on no ato ni Onamae to Goyouken o ohanashi kudasai. * Onamae - name Goyouken - message Ohanashi kudasai - please tell / speak Sorry - it's a bit long in Japanese, here's one that's short and simple - though it may not be so formal as the ones above. *Ima denwa ni deraremasen. Meseeji ga areba hashin-on no ato ni doozo. * :D

Thank you for the translation! I knew the "hello" was different, but didn't expect some of the other words too! :] this may be off topic, but how do you say "i love you too"? lol. I know you say "aishite imasu" to say "i love you" but to add the 'too' do i say "mo"? thanks :p

I tried saying the first way of asking to leave a message on the phone, and i couldn't pronounce meseeji  is it -- "me - se - e - ji"...or in english grammar -- "may-say-ay-jee"

Konnichiwa! "Message" - Meseeji - is pronounced like "mess" + "age" + "i" You can replace meseeji with "DENGON" if that's easier for you!
