Course Includes?

I have a very specific reason for wanting to learn Japanese, so, before I pay for premium membership, I am interested in whether the course would include what I require. Learning the pleasantries of every day conversation is good and I like the way the lessons I've seen so far are presented. My problem is, looking through the lessons, I haven't seen anything that will help me at work.

I work for a large resort where we have a large number of Japanese visitors. Between our two hotels and our motel, we average two to three Japanese tour groups per day, year round. In the past, most of the Japanese people in these groups spoke English. In the last year or so, we've started getting more and more groups in which only the tour guide speaks English. As such, I can't take care of my guest's calls and end up calling the tour guide and having them call the guest's room, find out what they need, then call me back. What I am l looking for is to be able to both exchange pleasantries and to be able to understand and respond to a caller requesting towels, or blankets, or they have problems turning the shower on, or their toilet is overflowing, or any of a number of other things a guest might want or need when they call the front desk or guest services.

Please let me know if this course will help me. Thank you, Mare

Hmm.

The course teaches you basic japanese. Personally, I found it enough to be able to get through an all-kana japanese videogame.

I most definitely teaches you the various common sentence structures, but I'm not sure if the vocabulary you seem to require would be covered in the course.

Maybe Derek or Sayaka could shed some more light on this.

The course does teach a bit about this although a good idea is to make sure you use a dictionary like jisho.org to learn specific words you need to use.

Minnasan Konnichiwa,

The Rocket Japanese Premium is a beginners course taking you through basic Japanese. As Derek-san has mentioned, the course does touch upon some vocabulary used in hotels. You can always ask us through "Your Community" if you have specific questions and we would be more than happy to answer!
