Konnichiwa! As some of you probably know, I am going to Japan. I have most of my preperations done. All that is left is money. I heard that japan is more comfortable with cash than card. The problem is, i want to take £1500 cash with me which is 306525 Yen. Is it a bad idea to take this much cash? I think I would have to carry around 30 of 10,000 Yen notes. Do you think this is safe in Japan? I heard people are very kind and humble so I am not expecting any trouble.

Soufiani-san Konnichiwa!! Yes...that seems to be a lot of money to be carrying around...even in a safe country like Japan!! I'd recommend you change some to traveler's check (to be safe) and though it's true that CASH is more often used than CARD (such as for local shops) You can definitely use your credit card in all department stores, airport, hotels, and buying train tickets (if it's not out in the country-side!) :shock: Japanese people are kind and humble...but don't forget, there's always a young crowd that's looking for trouble (as you'll see in Shibuya!!) and like any city, there's unemployed and homeless people! thank you for your advice. I have a credit card so I will transfer the money into that. I think I will feel very unsafe if I was to carry over 304000 yen I will carry something like 60972 Yen instead. domo arigato gozaimashta!!
