Motivation

OK here is my problem, I'm trying to learn Japanese but I seem to be lacking in motivation... the thing is I love Japan and the language and I really want to learn it and I even enjoy learning it, and yet I find myself every day watching dramas and anime instead... WHY?!!?!! (Does anybody else have this problem?) I think I enjoy learning Japanese more than watching anime and Japanese dramas... so why is this happening??? (I don't know, maybe this is just a silly, pointless question to ask...)

this is also a problem I had at first (still having it, but it has become really rare). I really like learning the language, but when I finally had some free time I found my self saying: "Oh, let's do some Japanese lessons....bleh, I'm tired, let's watch some anime instead" and this was quite troublesome. The core problems are:
- you have become dependent to anime (it works in the same way like drugs if you allow me to make this comparison)
- you lack motivation and confidence => you are the lazy type of person => the times when you really feel like learning Jp are quite rare
- you are too stressed and tired from the everyday activities you do and don't have the energy and desire left to learn sth new, ex: school -> really exhausting the way in which we are taught in my country (this may not be necessarily in your case; what I've stated here in the post is based on my personal experience with these kind of things)

Ok, now for the first 2 problems: I'm not going to tell you to reduce the amount of anime and films you watch (even I am currently watching 23 anime which have episodes airing on a weekly basis), but you need to find a method of, let's say, punishing yourself for not gathering up the will to do it ! For example, I love eating chocolate all the time, and whenever I lost the will to learn in one day, I'd punish myself by not touching any chocolate for one week. I also used the "elastic band" method and pinched myself with it whenever I didn't do a lesson.

For the last core problem, it's indicated that you organize your time so as to be able to get enough rest for let's say: 2-3 days and then the next 2 days you should be able to do some lessons (maximum 5) without getting yourself even more tired. This method worked for me, especially when I decided to do all my Jp lessons in weekends.

This may not be of much help, but if it does work then I'm happy to have been useful
